There is a new gem in Healdsburg ~ the recently opened Shed. Hard to sufficiently describe all that Shed encompasses…..part Farmer’s Market, restaurant, garden & cooking store and gorgeous event space. Definitely one to add to the list that must be checked out….I think it will only continue to become more fun and fabulous as they settle into their identity.

A few weekends ago I spent with new clients venue scouting…as it never fails to do it seems, it poured rain the entire time. Thankfully they had fantastic attitudes as we trudged along, in and out of the car with umbrellas in hand. One might wonder what goes into venue scouting like this and compiling the list of locations to visit when you only have two days. First, budget plays an important role…whatever it is, you have to tailor your list accordingly. Next, the bride told me that Calistoga Ranch was her dream location from all of her online searching. Now, this is someone speaking my language….as most of you know, Calistoga Ranch has always been one of my absolute favorite locations and I have been blessed to plan many gorgeous weddings there. However, it was going to be a stretch financially so we had some work to do to find a spot that had a similar vibe but one that was more in our budget range.
The first stop was Copain Wines in the Russian River Valley. Even though it was absolutely miserable out, the view was incredible and we all felt “it”. The groom was ready to sign the contract within a half hour and then spend the rest of the trip wine-tasting however I had to convince him we needed to do our due diligence and continue the search. After 12 more locations over two days, we all agreed with that initial gut feeling and back to Copain we went. As the groom’s family will be traveling from Europe and the bride’s family will be coming from the Midwest, it was important that the location be comfortable and welcoming for everyone while still maintaining that take your breath away feeling. We were able to accomplish that with Copain and the best part….the bride and groom are going to spend their first few married nights at Calistoga Ranch.

I wanted to share another fantastic restaurant located right off the square in Healdsburg. It opened this summer and has become a favorite of locals, chefs and winemakers. Dawneliese and Ari Rosen are the chef owners of another wildly popular restaurant Scopa and this new venture is right up my alley. Fabulous outdoor atmosphere with a wood burning oven cranking out the most delicious pizzas, small interesting plates to share and the most creative bar menu utilizing only wines and beer…the portofino and the palace are my favs (good thing they come by the pitcher!).
Even though the patio space really is not to be missed, don’t wait until next summer to pop in. The long, narrow brick walled space is incredibly cozy and sitting at the bar is a treat as you get to watch all that goes into these fabulous libations.
I really can’t say enough about this place, an absolute must visit!

So excited to share the beautiful work of Tia and Claire Studio that was featured on Style Me Pretty last week. Merrick and Blake were absolutely fantastic clients and their wedding at Chalk Hill Estate was stunning! All of the vendors that worked on this wedding did a fabulous job and it is weddings like this that make me feel very blessed to do what I do and work with the clients I work with. xo Amy
We had a fantastic time the other weekend out at Bloomfield Farms. They are located out towards the coast where the dirt has a sand like feel to it and I know this because I actually was in the dirt digging with my hands! For the past several Sundays they have invited guests out to their working farm to harvest a box of vegetables for $25.00. I have to admit that I filled the majority of our box up with beautiful fingerling potatoes…love them but I did make room for dark green spinach and kale, red swiss chard and the last of the seasons’ tomatoes. To top off an already fabulous farm experience for our family, Firefly Catering was there cooking up some amazingly fresh, delicious food where you were only asked to pay what you can….it doesn’t get much more authentic and local than that!

Fabulous idea from my wedding this past weekend…the florist provided a tray filled with cut flowers, pins and ribbons for guests to choose their own special adornment. This was made available to guests as they arrived for the ceremony and gave them something to do as they sipped on a glass of wine, waiting for the ceremony to begin. I was surprised at how many men really took the time to select a flower that best coordinated with their suit or tie. This is an easy way to make your guests feel special and that you appreciate the effort it may have taken for them to come celebrate with you.
